McHenry Ave Hotels Sees Changes in Voucher Uses
To decrease the criminal activity around the Tiki Lodge and Budgetel Hotel, MPD teamed with County Staff and City Code Enforcement to assess the many complaints from both neighborhood residents and other nearby business owners. Vouchers are no longer being taken at the Tiki Lodge and the Budgetel is being reviewed pertaining to voucher use and code violations due to cleanliness and safety. We are glad to see the changes and appreciate our MPD Area Commander, County Staff, and City Staff working together to help make these improvements.

10/28/2013 A Neighborhood Watch Captain for the two blocks of Myrtle Ave. was in contact with Mike Alvarado about a boarded up house on Morris. She noticed that the back window was not covered and looked like homeless were using the building. She reported It to Mike, it was looked into, boarded up, and was learned that the owners intend to tear down the house and build a new one. Thanks Candace for following through on this.
