Neighborhood Watch Updates

Last year our area had approximately 8 registered groups with the Crime Prevention Unit. Today we have 25. Thanks to all of you for getting your neighbors interested. By knowing each person's first name creates more interest in watching out for each other. All of Modesto have 200 registered groups, and Modesto came in 1st Place with the most National Night Out gatherings in California! Congratulations!

As of September 19, 2013, there are 25 CANA Neighborhood Watch groups registered with the MPD Crime Prevention Unit. Contact the Crime Prevention Unit to see if one is in your area.

Neighborhood Watch is a block by block program of neighbors connecting with one another to look out for each other, thus creating a greater sense of well being. The crime prevention program of neighborhood participants has proven essential in becoming the "eyes and ears" for the MPD. With the increasing crime statistics, we all need to do our part in keeping our CANA neighborhood safe. As our new Chief of Police recently said, "take care of each other" and "don't sit back and wait for someone else to take care of it for you".

Becoming a NW coordinator takes little organization and time initially. Click here to find out how you can form a neighborhood watch group in your area.
